Smith River Fire Complex – RCT Service Update
Monday August 21st at 9am

RCTA is open for business and generally running regularly scheduled service, with a few modifications, see below. The RCTA phone lines are all down. However, the public can reach dispatch directly by calling 707-458-4895.
RCTA will provide a special General Public Dial-A-Ride (GP DAR) to get people to the Cooling Centers opened at Del Norte High School, Smith River School, and Margaret Keating School in Klamath and to/from home to other emergency needs, such as medical and shopping. Call 707-458-4895 to request a trip to a cooling center or other critical destination. The GP DAR will operate daily 8am to 5pm until further notice.

RCTA is running regular weekday service this week with the following exceptions:
Crescent City Local Routes (1-4) will operate on a shorter span, running 8am to 5pm
Route 199 is suspended until further notice. Riders in Hiouchi can request a ride by calling 707-458-4895.
Route 20 north segment is operating on schedule
Route 20 south segment (Crescent City to Eureka) is running a modified schedule. The early morning and late afternoon trips are operating as scheduled. Due to driver availability issues, the midday trip leaving Crescent City towards Eureka at 10:30am is suspended until further notice.

RCT plans to run this service level all week, August 21-25 or until further notice. RCTA will post updates as things change via this website and social media.

RCTA appreciates everyone’s patience as we struggle with the regional power outage due to the Smith River Fire Complex. Please check back frequently and follow RCT on facebook for the latest updates in this fluid, rapidly changing situation. Call 707-458-4895 for updates but please exercise patience if you don’t get through on the first try. RCT phone lines are down, this cell phone is the only way to reach us for now.
