RCTA Service Changes

Service Changes Start October 31

What’s Changing?

Beginning Oct. 31:

  • Route 20: Saturday and holiday service will be discontinued. Weekday service will continue.
  • Saturday and holiday service: Local and Dial-A-Ride service hours will be reduced to 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Routes 1, 3 and 4: Earlier final weekday trips.

Why Is RCTA Reducing Service?

RCTA is experiencing an ongoing operating budget shortfall, in part due to reduced state transit funding and increased operating costs.

RCTA has already taken steps to reduce expenses while maintaining as much service as possible. The additional service reductions are intended to help address the funding gap while preserving core weekday service.

Public Feedback

Thank you to everyone who participated in the public outreach process.

RCTA received 25 online comments on the proposed service reductions. RCTA provided the feedback to the Board for consideration before its Sept. 28 decision.

The most common theme was a desire to maintain existing service, with riders sharing concerns about access to work, appointments, shopping, and other destinations.

The online feedback period is now closed.
